The Opportunity
This is an exciting career opportunity for a lawyer with 5 – 8 PAE to join this forward thinking, savvy and proactive legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel. The legal team works very closely as part of the wider business, and you will be involved in a unique mix of general commercial, technology and data and privacy. Importantly, you will work with key stakeholders and the Executive Leadership Team advising the business with a forward thinking and proactive approach to legal advice. The role is a hybrid role with WFH 5 days a week per fortnight.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for advising and working closely with the business on a wide range of commercial issues, with an emphasis on data and privacy including reviewing and negotiating data specific contracts and advising the wider business on data and privacy, advising and reviewing on technology contracts and issues, as well as identifying legal risks in commercial proposals, digital products or concepts put forward by the business.
You will have strong communication skills, demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking and plenty of energy and initiative. You will enjoy a high level of responsibility working autonomously and closely with the business as an extended member of the business unit.
Skills & Experience
This roles requires the following skills and experience:
– A strong foundation at a reputable top tier or mid-tier law firm with approximately 5-8 years working in a Commercial Technology team.
– Prior in-house experience in a permanent role or secondment is ideal.
– Strong commercial acumen and a positive and commercial approach to working through legal issues at practical level.
– Experience reviewing and negotiating data specific contracts including data licenses and data sharing agreements as well as experience advising on privacy laws and regulations.
