EXCITING ROLE FOR A SENIOR REAL ESTATE LAWYER WITH 8+ YEARS EXPERIENCE TO JOIN A LEADING AUSTRALIAN ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPANY

This is an exciting role for a senior real estate lawyer with 8 + years’ experience to join a leading and forward-thinking Australian asset management and lending company with a dynamic, growing and forward-thinking culture.

Our Client

This leading asset management and lending company has in excess of $20 billion in assets under management. Through their extensive and broad ranging managed funds they provide access to ASX listed and private investment strategies with high yield results. It is a highly regarded and award-winning real estate asset manager, with real estate investments being a key strategic area for this company.

The Opportunity

This position is an important appointment for the company, acting as a key legal counsel for the real estate investment business in Australia. You will enjoy working autonomously where your team is the business, key stakeholders and the real estate investment origination team. You will advise with a forward thinking, highly commercial and proactive approach.

The role will provide primary legal support to the business in Australia supporting the real estate investment origination team in relation to originating, structuring and executing real estate investment transactions and subsequent transaction/client management post-closing.

Key Requirements

The required experience and expertise for this role includes:

  • A minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in a highly regarded private practice and/or in-house.
  • Solid real estate transaction experience with a focus on property development and ownership, site acquisitions and sale, due diligence, joint venture and investment structures, construction and development, and leasing management.
  • A working knowledge of commercial law would be an advantage, as would an understanding of construction law.
  • Familiarity with trusts, unincorporated and incorporated joint venture structures and duty issues related to property.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with executives and senior management.
  • Strong ability to work autonomously and with commercial acumen to advise and add value to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of communicating complex legal matters to non-legal stakeholders including senior executive management.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law.
