We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading and forward-thinking Australian asset management and lending company who is looking to appoint a senior lawyer specialising in funds management, investments and general corporate & commercial with 8+ years’ experience.

Our Client

This leading asset management and lending company has in excess of $20 billion in assets under management, specialising in fixed income, private credit and capital markets. Through their extensive and broad ranging onshore and offshore managed funds they provide access to ASX listed and private investment strategies with high yield results. This company runs a number of listed funds as well as retail and real estate investment funds. It continues to grow and evolve into new and exciting investment platforms and offers a dynamic and down to earth culture.

The Opportunity

This position is an important appointment for the company, acting as key legal counsel for the funds management business in Australia and abroad as well as group corporate matters and investments. You will enjoy working autonomously where your team is the business, key stakeholders and the executive and advise with a forward thinking, highly commercial and proactive approach.

You will advise the business on onshore and offshore fund structuring and establishment, funds management, group corporate matters including strategic M&A and growth initiatives and the legal aspects of strategic business projects and wider commercial matters. There is an excellent remuneration package on offer. The role is a hybrid role with a combination of working from home and in the office.

Key Requirements

The required experience and expertise for this role includes:

  • A minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in private practice and/or in-house.
  • Significant experience specialising in funds including structuring, establishment and management.
  • Expertise in general corporate and commercial experience ideal but not necessary.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with executives and senior management.
  • Strong ability to work autonomously and with commercial acumen to advise and add value to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of communicating complex legal matters to non-legal stakeholders including senior executive management.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law.
