We are exclusively partnering with a global ASX listed construction/engineering services business, who is looking for an experienced senior level Counsel, with a background and experience in commercial & construction law to join their corporate head office in Sydney.

Our Client

The business provides engineering & construction services for clients across a range of industries, including renewable and natural energy, mining, steel, water, defence, manufacturing, and transport. The company is involved with major, complex projects across the ANZ region and is in a continuing phase of growth through the acquisition of industry related businesses.

The Opportunity

The role will work closely with the senior leadership team on a range of commercial law matters, including the contracting process (upstream and downstream), drafting new documents and enhancing precedents, identifying commercial risks and opportunities as well as providing advice on intellectual property, real estate, corporate governance, and other areas of commercial and construction law.

You will also be responsible for managing relationships with external counsel, managing and monitoring the quality of services, costs, and advice given.

Key Requirements

The required experience and expertise for this role includes:

A minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in private practice and/or in-house.

Expertise in general commercial and construction experience is ideal but not essential.

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with executives and senior management.

Strong ability to work autonomously and with commercial acumen to advise and add value to senior management and stakeholders.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to articulate complex legal matters to non-legal stakeholders.

Tertiary qualifications in law.
