Henley Reid

We are partnering with a high profile property investment fund, who are looking to appoint a Legal Counsel in a newly created role to join their growing team in Sydney, on a full or part-time basis.

Sydney / Property / Permanent (Full or Part-Time)

Our Client

This highly regarded property fund is backed by one of Australia’s leading financial institutions, and specialises in the development of real estate assets across the country. As the business continues to expand, they have secured funding to invest in c.300 developments in the immediate future, doubling their portfolio. As an organisation, they are continuing to grow, and intend on doubling their headcount over the next 12 months.

The Opportunity

Given our client’s growth, this is an exciting career opportunity for a lawyer with 3 – 8 PAE to join this forward thinking, impressive operation as a new Legal Counsel, in a newly created role. You will work closely with the wider business, specifically the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Chief Exec, providing legal advice on a range of commercial property and development matters. More broadly, you will be involved with providing general commercial legal advice for the business, making this a great opportunity for a property lawyer looking for breadth.

The role is based in the Sydney CBD, with part and full-time working arrangements on offer. Our client is very flexible, so part-time lawyers looking for 3 or 4 day/week arrangements are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing all legal matters relating to their property portfolio, advising senior stakeholders on all property and commercial legal matters. The successful lawyer will conduct property due diligences, advise on property transactions, and draft a range of commercial real estate contracts, including development, tenancy, supplier, and management contracts, working closely with, and managing external counsel.

You will have strong communication skills, demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking and plenty of energy and initiative. You will enjoy a high level of responsibility working autonomously and closely with the business as an extended member of the commercial group.

Skills & Experience

This role will require the following skills and experience:

· A strong background in property law, ideally from a strong specialist property firm, national or international law firm;

· Experience drafting and conducting property due diligences, conveyancing, development arrangements, tenancy, and property contracts;

· While you will be expected to lead on matters autonomously, strong stakeholder management and communication skills are required;

· Previous in-house experience is desirable, but not a requirement.
