Trade & Transport Team

The team provides a comprehensive legal service covering wet and dry, contentious and non-contentious issues throughout the maritime industry. Across the MENA offices they have experience in every aspect of shipping and transportation.

As a top shipping firm, our client acts for wide ranging clients in the shipping industry including charterers, traders, major dry and tanker owners, oil majors, energy companies, governments, P&I Clubs, hull and cargo insurers, shipbuilders, shipyards, ship owners and operators in maritime transportation.

Position Description

You will work on a variety of disputes across all classes of marine and energy, including hull, cargo, liability, business interruption and reinsurance and more generally be handling and assisting on marine insurance coverage litigation advice.

You will also be providing contentious and advisory services to all parties within the marine insurance business, working with overseas insurers and the many syndicates, companies, captives, brokers, P&I clubs and loss adjusters.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the appropriate level of post-qualification experience (3-5 years’ PQE in a City, major regional or leading international firm) and have transportation (shipping, aviation and logistics) experience. More specifically:

  • Training and experience gained in domestic and international transportation (shipping, aviation and logistics experience) arbitration/litigation (preferable but not essential)
  • Have worked extensively on domestic and international transportation related matters. Regional experience would be an advantage.
  • A versatile lawyer with an interest in aviation, logistics and the maritime sector and lead on cases
  • Strong drafting skills with a keen attention to detail
