Market-leading health and medico-legal practice. The team represents a range of clients including medical defence organisations, medical practitioners, private hospitals, medical practices and allied health professionals.
The team is involved in a mix of complex healthcare and medical malpractice files across a range of clients, including MDOs and private and public hospitals.
Position Description
As a lawyer in the team, you will gain exposure to a range of defendant medical malpractice and healthcare work as well as general insurance litigation and some advisory matters.
You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most high-profile matters in Australia. In this role, you will work closely with the Melbourne partners and have the opportunity to develop and maintain excellent client relationships, marketing/business development and client training activities.
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the appropriate level of post-qualification experience (2-4 years’ PQE) and have relevant medical malpractice or health experience gained within a top/mid-tier firm or in-house. More specifically:
- Ideally 2+ years of post-admission experience in defendant medical malpractice and healthcare work is preferred.
- Alternatively, a general/life insurance background (from the defendant side) with a keen interest in developing a career in this specialist area would be considered highly.
- Demonstrate first rate legal/commercial knowledge with strong technical and research skills.
- Ability to draft, advise and negotiate in relation to both straightforward and complex matters.
